The founding of RBA Collectables S.A. sees the launch of one of the most successful collections ever released at newsstands. The series was presented by the popular scientist Jean Jacques Cousteau, who revealed the secrets of Spain’s underwater world to the public at large for the first time.

Along with the Cousteau Collection, this consolidated the launch and expansion of RBA. A selection was made of the best works from leading publishers' catalogs with a view to offering readers the best and most representative titles in contemporary literature.

Strategic alliances are made for collectables with RCS for Italy and France, and Eaglemoss for England. Magazine agreements include those signed with Bertelsmann to launch National Geographic in France, Poland, Germany and Holland and with Egmont for children's magazines such as Princesas.

Under the prestigious umbrella of National Geographic, this collection reached newsstands in September 2004. The 24 large-format volumes, with deluxe binding and images, marked a milestone in the promotions market that has not been repeated: over 500,000 units of the first volume have been sold.

RBA Edipresse is created following the merger of RBA Revistas and Edipresse Hymsa. RBA Edipresse starts its activity in the weekly magazine business with such leading titles as Semana and Lecturas, founded in 1921, a reference in celebrity press. RBA also acquires the innovative magazine PC Actual.

Al cumplir los 3.000 números, que la acreditan como decana de la prensa del corazón, Lecturas fue galardonada en 2009 con los Premios Protagonistas, en su 13 edición. Luis del Olmo junto con la modelo Judit Mascó hicieron entrega del galardón al director de Lecturas, Luis Pliego.
